Hello!

I’m Sophie, an artist who tell stories with patterns and illustrations. I established Sophiequi in 2014 to create whimsical art for licensing markets including stationery, home decor, gift, and apparel as well as illustrations to hang on walls or for publication.

I studied engineering and applied mathematics in Montreal, Quebec, and Virginia Tech, all the way to the PhD then started a career in web development and design with a little detour in architecture along the way. So, how did I get into art? Well I learned to draw when I was 18 from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and thanks to my mom artist I’ve been crafty my whole life. I also took classes in Architecture and Interior Design at UCLA, and being computer savvy has helped a lot.

I live in Los Angeles with my mini cooper, french accent, ukulele band, and favorite podcasts (Radiolab, TED Radio Hour, Modern Love, This American Life, How I Built This, to name a few).

Please get in touch if you'd like to commission new work or license existing art, I'll be happy to hear from you! sophie@sophiequi.com
